American Legion Post 82’s Four Chaplains memorial service is set for 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, at 192 Watson Landing Road, Saluda. The community is invited to attend. This service commemorates the four U.S. military chaplains that gave the ultimate sacrifice on Feb. 3, 1943, at 12:55 a.m, while serving on the SS Dorchester. The chaplains gave up their life jackets so service members could survive the sinking troop ship. Their gallant actions merit special remembrance.
Organizers also invite the veteran community to share with them your family veteran members that have passed on to Post Everlasting for recognition and memorial at this service.
