Governor extends closings of non-essential businesses until May 14

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam announced Monday a plan for easing restrictions put in place on March 30 and scheduled to be in force until June 10. The “stay at home” order was issued to reduce the spread of COVID-19. It included social distancing and closing some non-essential businesses.

Gov. Northam said Phase I of reopening could begin on Friday, May 15. Northam’s executive order closing non-essential businesses was scheduled to expire on Friday, May 8, but has been extended until May 14.
