“The Blind Side” is the next Movie Night offering by Saluda Baptist Church. It features the story of Michael Oher, a homeless, traumatized boy, who becomes an All American Football player and First Round Draft pick of the National Football League with the help of a caring lady and her family.
Movie Night is set for 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, at Saluda Baptist at 960 General Puller Highway in Saluda. Families are encouraged to attend the free showing and enjoy the free pizza, popcorn and drinks that are available.

The Celebrate Light youth group invites students, grades six-12, to a get-together set for 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, at Zoar Baptist Church’s bayside “beach” property at Stingray Point off Speck Avenue. This celebration is on the last Friday night before school starts. The program includes games, competitions, prizes and food.

Christ Church Episcopal Parish’s Trash and Treasures Sale is set for 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, in the church’s fellowship hall at 56 Christchurch Lane in Christchurch. Donated items for sale in past years have included holiday and craft supplies, pictures, frames, antiques and collectibles, kitchen and other household items, home decor, furniture, tools, electronics, office supplies and more. During August, after three and a half years of absence, the Very Rev. Gerry Kaggwa, pastor of Catholic Church of the Visitation in Topping, will return to Uganda for a well-deserved month’s vacation.
Church of the Visitation’s guest priest during Father Gerry’s absence will be the Rev. Christopher Isinta, a retired priest of the Archdiocese of Newark, who will reside in the Church of the Visitation rectory while serving the parish.
His availability will allow the church to celebrate “daily” Mass during August on a normal schedule. The church offers “daily” Mass at 9 a.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays.
