Construction of the new Church View Post Office building at Church View has finally started as concrete workers were pouring the foundation on Friday, Sept. 17.

The new post office has been a long time coming. Back in February 2020, the postal service removed an old post office trailer being used as the Church View Post Office and replaced it with a “U.S. Post Office on Wheels” postal truck.

Jamaica District supervisor and supervisors chairman Wayne Jessie has been working with U.S. Rep. Rob Wittman, R-1st Dist., in Washington, D.C., and were told in February 2020 that the Church View Post Office construction had been delayed because of COVID-19.

The delay is obviously up as workers are finally moving ahead on the property…
