Graduation at RCC set for May 8

Dr. Pamela Fox, president of Mary Baldwin College, will speak at the RCC Commencement.

At Rappahannock Community College’s 37th Commencement the featured speaker will be Dr. Pamela Fox, president of Mary Baldwin College.

Born in Texas and reared in central Ohio, Fox started playing the piano at age 5, and went on to earn three degrees—bachelor of music, master of music, and a doctorate in musicology—from the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music.

An active scholar and instructor, Fox has written widely on research topics including 18th-century composer Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, and music in Boston at the turn of the last century.

Dr. Fox became the president of Mary Baldwin College in July 2003, after 20 years as a professor of music and dean at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She immediately launched a comprehensive project that called on the entire MBC community to create an innovative strategic plan for the next 10 years.

As well as being a member of the International Congress on Global Citizenship, Dr. Fox is a leading advocate for private higher education in the United States.

The public is cordially invited to attend the commencement ceremony, which will be held on Friday, May 8, at 6:30 p.m. on the front lawn at RCC’s Warsaw Campus.
