William Theodore DeWalt Jr., born March 2, 1954, passed away on or about Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025.
Bill was a United States Army veteran who served more than 20 years and retired at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2. He served in multiple medical roles throughout his career, including 91B Combat Medic, 91C Practical Nurse, and later physician’s assistant. He deployed to the Middle East in support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, providing essential medical care to soldiers in demanding conditions. His decorations include the Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Kuwait Liberation Medals, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, and several other awards honoring his dedication and service.
He is survived by his sons, Billy (Lisa) DeWalt and Christopher (Sabrina) DeWalt; his grandchildren; and his sisters, Pamela (John) Stump and Jane DeWalt and her husband Richard Burns. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Theodore DeWalt Sr. and Dolores Addie DeWalt.
Bill enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, and valued the quiet simplicity of time spent outside.
Mr. DeWalt’s celebration of life is planned for 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11 at the Virginia Veteran Cemetery at Amelia.
