Urbanna Town Council meets Thursday via Zoom

by Tom Chillemi –

The Urbanna Town Council is seeking grants to help pay for a new well, a new community swimming pool and other Taber Park improvements.

One requirement is for council to conduct a public hearing, which has been set for 6 p.m. today, Thursday, May 27, via Zoom.

“This is a very important survey for all residents of Urbanna.” – Water Committee Chairman Bill Smith

This online meeting will give citizens an overview of the proposed study and survey of residents’ income levels. Residents are encouraged to attend and ask questions and give input on the grant and its requirement.

The survey will determine if the average income level is sufficient to allow the town to apply for grants. The survey would be designed to determine the number of low and moderate income residents that would benefit from the proposed projects. To be eligible for grants the town must have at least 51% of town households with low or moderate income, as defined by the state.

This information would only be used to obtain grants.

The deadline for the town to complete the survey and get the needed information is June 30…
