Urbanna man airlifted from MHS parking lot

A Med-Trans helicopter landed in the Middlesex High School parking lot in Saluda on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 8:15 a.m. to aid and assist in the transporting of an Urbanna man with a medical emergency to Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Medical Center in Richmond.

The Middlesex County Volunteer Rescue Squad (MCVRS) and members of the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department (MVFD) assisted in getting Dr. Darryl J. Pirok of Urbanna to the airlift site.

On the site, MVFD firefighter Barry Powell said that during this extended cold weather period firefighters have been assisting the rescue squad with on-site calls to provide any help needed because of icy and snowy conditions…
