Turn the calendar to 2022 and resolve to  place trust in Jesus

“I will do the opposite!”

One of the biggest shows on TV in the 90s was “Seinfeld.” The character George was a lovable loser that could never do anything right. One day in desperation he had a realization. If every instinct he had was wrong, then the opposite would have to be right. He decided to start doing the opposite.

Just then he saw a woman and wanted to introduce himself to her. He would normally use a pick-up line, or invent an important career to impress her but this time he did the opposite of what he instinctively thought he should do. He walked up to her and said, “Hello, my name is George. I’m unemployed and I live with my mother.” To his surprise, doing the opposite worked.

God’s kingdom often seems upside down. In His kingdom, sometimes the first are last and the last are first (Matthew 20:16). Paul said that the weak are strong (2 Corinthians 12:10). Jesus said that anyone that wants to keep his or her life will lose it but those that lose their life will keep it (Luke 17:33).

Seems confusing. Seems opposite…
