Suzanne Gillie “Duck” Lehner

Suzanne Gillie “Duck” Lehner, 78, of Powhatan, formerly of Saluda, went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 11, 2026.

She was the widow of James C. Lehner and was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Frances Gillie.

Suzanne is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Robinson (Charles), Frances Lehner; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Linda Jamerson (Rogers), Teresa Gillie; brother-in-law, Tommy Lehner; sister-in-law, Shirley Host (Raymond); cousins, JC Nunnally (Brenda) and Debbie Boatwright; Martha Haney (Malcom), Rosemary Burton; and her loyal and beloved dog, Lola.

Growing up Suzanne and JC were close and shared many good times, which carried over into adulthood with baseball, laughter, and the occasional “PFFFRRRRT.”

Debbie stood by Suzanne as a guiding light with wisdom. Suzanne enjoyed her chickens, gardening, boating on the “SUZANNA,” her 53-foot Matthews, and her PBRs and Moscato wine. Many adventures were shared with Tommy and a close friend of the family, Chris Rauschenberg on water and land in Middlesex County.

Suzanne’s career began out of high school with the FBI as a classified fingerprint technician. Her entire career was spent in law enforcement, retiring from Virginia State Police as manager of Central Criminal Records Exchange. She was passionate preforming the duties of her career and with the people she served.

Her sister, Linda, and brother-in-law, Rogers, were her caregivers and confidants while under their care for the last two years. They were all blessed to enjoy Suzanne’s creative cooking, gardening, story telling and the occasional outings together, during that time. She passed peacefully in their home in Powhatan, surrounded by their love.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude Suncrest Hospice, especially to our caring and devoted nurse, Jacqueline Adams, and CNA Judy; and social worker, Bradley Topper, for his guidance and release of exhaustions. Suncrest provided an extensive network of professional support during the time of need.

A graveside service will be conducted at a later date.

Suzanne would like for memorial contributions be made to the Guide Dogs of America,13445 Glenoaks Boulevard, Symar, CA 91342 in remembrance of her.
