Ruth Constance (Moore) Conners

Ruth Constance (Moore) Conners of Topping passed peacefully from this life surrounded by loved ones on November 23, 2019. She was born in Brookline, Massachusetts, in 1936 and lived in Maryland, Florida and Virginia. She was predeceased by her husband Carlton, her sister Pam, grandson Drew and longtime companion Gene Blue. She is survived by her beloved children, Wayne (Missy), Tori (Bill) and David (Candi); grandchildren, Bradley (Jessica), Julia, Amanda, Morgan, Michael, Sam, Caroline and Haley (Eric); and four great-grandchildren.

A stoic New Englander with a sharp wit, she loved her family fiercely and welcomed new members warmly. Ruth was an avid driver with a detailed memory of her many trips, traveling the length of the East Coast several times to visit friends and family. Ruth loved British mysteries, music and cats. Blessed with a green thumb, she enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, and never missed an episode of “Jeopardy”!

A service celebrating her life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, December 6, at Commonwealth Baptist Church, 700 Commonwealth Avenue, Alexandria. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date. Should friends desire, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Melanoma Research Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.
