Rollin’ through the rain in downtown Urbanna to mark Memorial Day

Wearing his U.S. Marines ball cap, ex-leatherneck Darrell Sears (above) of Urbanna isn’t about to let a little drizzle hold him back as he leads a line of 20 golf carts down Virginia Street Saturday. In recognition of it being Memorial Day weekend, many of the carts display American flag decorations. Some though, opt for summer-themed decorations, since the holiday is widely viewed as the unofficial start of summer. Rain, thunder and gusts later in the day prompted the postponement of all Urbanna May Daze events until June 12. (Photos by Don Richeson)
