Robert E. “Bobby” Shackelford, 88, of Water View, a U.S. Navy veteran and retired waterman, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2020. Bobby was a member of Hermitage Baptist Church, the Virginia Waterman’s Association and a charter member of the Water View Volunteer Fire Department, and was honored to be named Captain of the 2006 Urbanna Oyster Festival Parade.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian M. Shackelford; a daughter, Kathy S. Thrift (William); a granddaughter, Sherry Williams (Wesley); and a great-grandson, Landon.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 31, in Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, Saluda, where the family received friends one hour prior to the service. Interment was in Hermitage Baptist Church Cemetery, Church View.
