Raymond Lewis Bagby Jr. was born on Nov. 20, 1973.
He was affectionately known as “Buck” or “Bay-Ray.”
He departed this life on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025.
He was a 1992 graduate of Middlesex High School. And, a 1997 graduate of Virginia State University, Petersburg.
Buck was an outstanding athlete. He played basketball and track, but was well known for playing football. He was a part of the 1989 Middlesex High School state championship team.
He was employed as a principal at various schools in the Richmond City Public School System for several years. Lastly, he was employed as a peer recovery specialist in Williamsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn Roane Bagby and Raymond Lewis Bagby Sr.
He is survived by two sons, Raymond Lewis Bagby III and Christian Bagby; two sisters, Vanessa Butler and Barbara Caban-Sens; three nieces, Kendall Butler, Kelly Butler and Nikesha Gresham-Davenport; two nephews, Maurice Santiago and George Santiago Jr.; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
The funeral service was conducted Saturday, Jan. 3, at Lebanon Baptist Church, Saluda. Interment was private.
