Naomi G. Pfeltz “Meme,” beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on July 9, 1938, in Williamsport, Md., the youngest child of Julia and Lewis Fischer, and was preceded in death by five sisters and five brothers.
Naomi met the love of her life, “Bill” Lewis Pfeltz, while attending Williamsport High School. The lovebirds later married in Hollywood, Md., in 1980. The Pfeltzs moved to Middlesex County in 1984, where they opened Pinetop Nursery. There, her passion for growing and arranging flowers bloomed for over a decade. Naomi was a staple at the Middlesex County Sports Complex, volunteering her time while watching her grandchildren play baseball and softball.
Naomi treasured her summer vacations to Nags Head, where she read countless books and enjoyed the sounds of the ocean. She loved to travel, trekking across the United States in the 1980s and later in life cherishing cruises to Alaska, the Bahamas and Mexico, among other locales. She loved her yearly hummingbird visits and delighted in their numbers, bragging about it a time or two! Most of all she loved her family, which kept her heart full through her last days.
She is survived by her loving husband, and lifelong friend, “Bill” Lewis Pfeltz; two daughters, Diana Forlenza (Paul) and Debra Pratt (Colen); seven grandchildren, Stefan (Amanda), Isabella, Braz (Bailey), William (Gabrielle), Crystal (Adam), Alex (Jessica), Chris (Draven); and seven great-grandchildren, Veda, Jolene, Brooklin, Liam, Chloe, Aria, and Emma.
A memorial service to celebrate Naomi’s life is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home in Saluda. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Middlesex County Sports Complex.
