The 2019-2020 version of the Middlesex varsity Lady Chargers will look very familiar to the team from last year, said head basketball coach Neil Wake.
The Lady Chargers lost only one senior to graduation. “Lyndsay Greene was our only graduating senior in 2019. She loved to mix it up and attack the basket on the offensive end of the floor. We will need to replace that energy she was blessed with and, most of all, the leadership ability she possessed.”
The Lady Chargers are returning five starters and a total of 10 experienced players from 2019. Senior Amber Self will be called on to fill the leadership role. “She is very capable of doing so,” said Wake. “Amber was one of our leading scorers and rebounders a year ago.”
Outlook
Overall, the outlook looks very bright on paper, said Wake. “The willingness and the drive of the players will determine the outcome of the season. The coaches appreciate the opportunity and will give it 110 percent. We love this game and all of our players. Stay tuned.”
The Lady Chargers open their season at home on Monday, December 2, against Essex.
On Thursday, December 5, Middlesex travels to Lancaster; and on Monday, December 9, Middlesex is at Essex. The JV plays at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity follows at 7 p.m.
