Middlesex County’s two-day veterans celebrations

Nov. 10 and 11

Cool breezes and autumn leaves are heralding in Middlesex County’s two-day veterans celebrations planned for Nov. 10 and 11. With an estimated population of 10% veterans in the county, many have come to know and appreciate the men and women who have served the country and settled in Middlesex. In an effort to give back, Christ Church Parish (Episcopal) in Christchurch will again host its annual veterans festivities.

On Tuesday, Nov. 10, the entire community is invited to hear Sam Florer, director of public programs, Virginia Museum of History and Culture, deliver his presentation Give Me Liberty: Virginia and the Forging of a Nation. Florer’s presentation commemorates the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and Virginia’s leading role in the American Revolution. His talk is set for 7 p.m. at Christchurch School’s Marston Hall. It is free to attend. It will explore the global, continental and local events that brought about a model of democratic government that changed the world.
