“Voices of Revolution: Middlesex County in the Words of Its People” is the title of a talk to be presented on Sunday, Sept. 13, at 3 p.m. at the Middlesex County Historic Courthouse, 865 General Puller Highway, Saluda. Library of Virginia Historian Eric Johnson will be the featured speaker.
What was life like in Middlesex during the American Revolution? Johnson will explore that question through the voices of the people who lived through this transformative period. During the war and its aftermath, local residents from a variety of backgrounds expressed their concerns, experiences, and aspirations in legislative petitions and narratives of their wartime service.
These records, along with maps, wills, newspapers, and other documents preserved at the Library of Virginia, offer fascinating glimpses into life in Revolutionary-era Middlesex County.
