MHS softball squad splits pair of games

The Middlesex High varsity Lady Charger softball team split a pair of games last week, defeating West Point and losing to Mathews.

On May 13 Middlesex defeated West Point 19-7.

The Lady Chargers held an 8-7 lead after three innings before going on a 10-run rally in the sixth inning. Middlesex held West Point scoreless after the third inning.

Autumn Jackson pitched three and a half innings striking out four. Aniyah Thompson pitched two and a half scoreless innings striking out two.

On May 11 the Lady Chargers fell at Mathews 13-3. Mathews held a 4-3 lead after three innings, then scored eight runs in the sixth and another in the seventh to end the game under the 10-run lead mercy rule…
