Larger sheriff’s office tops MC proposed CIP

by Tom Chillemi –

A larger building for the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) has been on the Middlesex Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) since 2010. After 13 years, the sheriff’s office has finally made it to the top of the proposed CIP for 2023-2027, which will be the subject of a public hearing by the Middlesex Planning Commission tonight, Thursday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. in the Middlesex County Historic Courthouse in Saluda.

The CIP lists the larger sheriff’s office as “urgent” and estimates the renovation cost at $4.2 million, with $75,000 funded through grants.
