An Urbanna Planning Commission sponsored economic development “Idea Incubator” event is scheduled for 1-5 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, at the Middlesex County Woman’s Club building. The building, the Middlesex colonial-era courthouse, is at 202 Virginia St. in Urbanna. It has a 50-person occupancy limit, and the informal event is by invitation and RSVP only.
“We have made great efforts to include a diverse group of civic officials, business owners, and town volunteers,” said Merri Hanson, Urbanna Town Council member and chairman of the Urbanna Planning Commission. “It is exciting that so many folks are interested in making a difference.”
Recent closures of the Urbanna NAPA auto parts store, the gas station on Cross Street and the coming closure of Something Different restaurant have prompted the Urbanna Town Council to look for ways to stimulate the town’s economy.
The Urbanna Planning Commission is set to meet 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, in the new “town hall” at 350 Old Virginia St.
