Hardyville resident Dr. Carolyn Kreiter-Foronda, poet laureate of Virginia from 2006-2008, and Joyce Brinkman, Indiana poet laureate from 2006-2008, have jointly created, “Vanishing Life — A Poetic Warning,” a book of poetry on vanishing nonhuman life in the world.
Brinkman said in the preface of the new book that “When I hosted the third Biennial Gathering of State Poets Laureate in Indiana in 2007, Virginia’s Poet Laureate Dr. Carolyn Kreiter-Foronda’s flight home had a substantial delay.
“Not wanting to leave a fellow state laureate stranded in Indy, I picked her up at her hotel, and we explored the city. Her flight day proved to be a blessing as it became an opportunity to learn more about our mutual interests.
