Waits five months to claim prize; bought ticket at D’ville 7-Eleven
George Clayton of Deltaville waited more than five months to claim his Mega Millions prize of $1 million, according to the Virginia Lottery.
Clayton’s ticket was just one number away from hitting the Mega Millions jackpot, the Virginia Lottery stated in a news release. The Deltaville man matched the first five numbers in the Nov. 22, 2024 drawing to win a $1 million prize.
The winning numbers for that drawing were 13-20-26-32-65, and the Mega Ball number was 2. His ticket matched the first five numbers and missed only the Mega Ball number.
Mega Millions drawings are conducted Tuesday and Friday nights at 11 p.m.
All Virginia Lottery profits go to K-12 education in Virginia. In Fiscal Year 2024, the Lottery raised more than $934 million for K-12 education. That’s approximately 10 percent of Virginia’s total K-12 school budget.
