The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) wants out of ownership and maintenance obligations of four public wharves in the Middle Peninsula, including Jackson Creek State Dock at the end of Lovers Lane in Deltaville.
The other three state-owned wharves are Timberneck, Browns Bay and Perrin. Timberneck Wharf is located at the end of Crew Road in Gloucester County on the bank of Timberneck Creek, which directly flows into the York River.
Browns Bay Wharf, known locally and officially as Guinea Landing, is located at the eastern terminus of Browns Bay Road (Route 651) in Guinea. Perrin Wharf is located at the end of Perrin Creek Road (Route 1101) in Gloucester County.
