Believe it or not, Christmas is going to be here in about 175 days.
The Deltaville Community Association (DCA) started offering a special Christmas ornament in 2018. It has been a great fundraiser for the DCA.
Many people have asked about featuring the Old Red Barn that was at Stingray Point. Betsy Hudgins would ask me every year about showcasing the Old Red Barn and I am happy to say that it will be featured on this year’s DCA Christmas ornament.
I am a “come here,” so I knew very little about the Old Red Barn. When I said we were featuring the Old Red Barn for the DCA Christmas ornament people really told me a lot of stories about this jewel of a place. It sounded like it was the place to go in Deltaville for a great time. The sax player there would spin on his back when playing, there was delicious food in its restaurant, parties and a lot of dancing. It also had a bowling alley and a sandy beach. I think a lot of stuff went on in that beautiful hotel.
To the Deltaville Maritime Museum and Artist Ann Smith, thank you for helping me with all the different pictures to make this very special piece of history. Also a big thanks to J.W. Harrow Jr. for the write-up on the back of the ornaments.
Again, this year the cost will be $20 — get yours with cash or a check to the DCA.

We also have a few of last year’s Luna 2024 and a few of Santa 2023 eating the traditional Christmas oysters.
If you need any one of the ornaments mailed out to you, the cost will be $28.
