Plein Air Unleashed is again a big success

Seated at the cargo area of her SUV, Plein Air Unleashed artist Gina Warren Buzby, a visitor from Norfolk, works on a painting last week of the Urbanna historic Queen Anne Victorian home nicknamed, “The Marble House.” “It’s a nice art show,” she said of the event. It was her fifth straight year participating. See photo of her finished work, page A8. (Photo by Don Richeson)

Allure Art Center brought 35 fine art plein air painters from across the Mid-Atlantic area to paint at locations across Middlesex and Lancaster counties last week. The weeklong event, Plein Air Unleashed, culminated in a preview reception and exhibit of the works created. Hundreds of patrons attended the Deltaville exhibit, and many took home beautiful works of original art depicting the scenic region.

The plein air painters worked outside in the elements in a variety of mediums including oil, acrylic, watercolor and pastels to create 120 works of art last week.

This year, Allure Art Center teamed up with the Garden Tours of the Northern Neck and Middlesex to have the plein air painters at many of the garden tour homes painting, allowing tour patrons the opportunity to watch them create art in the garden settings.

If you happened to miss the exhibit, Allure Art Center in White Stone exhibits the works of seven of the plein air painters that were in the event this year. They have also created a gallery on their website showcasing many of the works that were created last week. If interested in any of the works, contact Allure Art Center at info@allureartcenter.com or stop by the gallery at 419 Rappahannock Drive, White Stone.
