Michael Harry Miller

Michael Harry Miller, 71, of Toano and Deltaville, died peacefully at home on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023.

Michael was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Junior Miller and Mary Hunter McLaughlin Miller.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marianne Linda Ash Miller; children, Gail Ashley Miller Fitzharris (Mark) of Delaware, Ohio, Gregory Austin Miller of St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands, Clayton Steele Miller of Missoula, Mont. and Seattle, Wash.; and two beloved grandchildren, Mazie Steele Fitzharris and Conall James Fitzharris of Delaware, Ohio. He is also survived by a sister, Kathryn Miller Bosquet of Marlinton, W. Va.

Michael had a treasured large extended family of nine brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and 20 nieces and nephews.

He was raised in Richmond, summered in Deltaville, and graduated from JR Tucker High School in 1969. A proud Gamecock, Michael received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in Marketing from the University of South Carolina in 1973.

Michael spent his lifetime as a regional industrial sales manager working for John Deere Industrial Equipment, Delta Woodworking Equipment, and Wakita Distribution in Pittsburgh, Pa., followed by Southworth Mechanical Corporation and Dominion Equipment Parts in Richmond.

Michael and Marianne raised their family in Pittsburgh, Pa., and all will be ardent Steelers and Penguins fans forever. They then moved to Virginia to be near his beloved family “Rivah” cottage in Deltaville.

He was an avid golfer, Rappahannock River fisherman, hunter and vegetable gardener. Michael was a member of the Pennsylvania Jaycees for many years, serving as an Upper St. Clair Chapter president, a Pennnsylvania state chairman, and was honored with a United States Jaycees lifetime senatorship recognition for his numerous awards and outstanding contributions.

A scattering of ashes, and a celebration of Michael’s life, is planned for July with family and friends.
