The public is invited to Virginia’s Li’l Ole Opry on Saturday, September 21, at 8 p.m. for a special Opry show featuring Mathews native Richard Smith. The show will be at Mathews High School’s Harry M. Ward Auditorium. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m.
Opry drummer Richard Smith will step out from behind the set to offer one of the most energetic shows this year, “A Tribute To Travis Tritt.” If you love rockabilly, soulful, blues-filled country music, you must already love Travis Tritt, a country legend who made his debut in the country world in the early 90s.
Smith plans to bring a tribute show to Mathews County with all of the intensity and emotion of the real thing. With hits like Country Club, Anymore, Put Some Drive in Your Country, and Great Day to Be Alive, you don’t want to miss this rockin’ good time!
The Opry singers and band will perform during the first half of the show and Smith will take the stage with the Opry band after intermission.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for children age 12 and under. They can be purchased in advance at Beach Bum BBQ and the Mathews Visitor Center in Mathews, and at Marketplace Antiques in Gloucester. Tickets may also be purchased at the door on show night starting at 7 p.m.
Mark your calendars now for Tracy Hill on October 19, the Opry’s Gospel Show on November 23, and Christmas Show on December 7.
