Ivey O. Huff

Ivey O. Huff of Wake went to be with her Lord the morning of Friday, Aug. 14, 2020, just two months shy of her 96th birthday. A little over two weeks earlier, she had still been tending the flowers around her house and watching over a small vegetable garden.
She was born Ivey Lucia Odom in Richmond on Oct. 12, 1924, and grew up loving the game of tennis, what with three brothers and a tennis court right across the street from their house. When she was in her 60s, she was still winning local country club matches against much younger opponents, and could also beat her younger son at the game any day of the week.

She also took up golf a bit later in life, and often frustrated her husband by beating him at the game on occasion.

Ivey married Fred W. Huff Jr. on her birthday in 1945. In the next few years, two sons were born to them, Frederick W. Huff III (Rick) and Robert E. Huff. Fred Jr. passed away in 1990 ND Rick passed away in 2011. She is survived by her son, Robert; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Her faith in God in Jesus Christ was central to her life, from the time she committed her life to the Lord as a teenager right up to the end. She had full assurance that her permanent home was in heaven with the Lord God and all his saints. With the knowledge of that confidence and the fact of a full well-lived life, it can only be with a sense of joy and celebration that we commit her spirit into the hands of the eternal God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

A memorial service will be concted at such time as the current pandemic safely allows a gathering of her many friends and family members. In the meantime, gifts can be sent to Clarksbury United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 10, Hardyville, VA 23070-0010.
Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, is assisting the family.
