Led by Darrell Sears of Urbanna, a 30-strong line of socially distanced, patriotically decorated golf carts makes its way west on Virginia Street past the Southside Sentinel office on Fourth of July morning during the inaugural Urbanna Independence Day golf cart parade.
Sears crafted his cart from a 1940s-era fair bumper car. Most of the carts were spaced 10 or more feet apart and contained family members who live together. Jill Durand, a registered nurse, organized the parade with assistance from Sears, a fellow military veteran. Read more about this event in this week’s Community section of the Southside Sentinel.
