Howard M. Brindle

Howard M. Brindle, 80, passed peacefully on the morning of Monday, April 21, 2025, after a long battle with cancer and dementia.

Howard was born in Williamsburg to Howard D. and Doris Brindle. He moved to Richmond in the early 1960s and started a career in sheet metal fabrication. He worked for several companies in Richmond, moving up through the ranks to becoming vice president of MacTavish In 1988. Howard realized his dream of owning his own company and purchased Piedmont Metal Fabricators. He moved the company from Gordonsville to Louisa County in 1993 and built it into an international supplier of processing machinery and parts for many industries. He retired from Piedmont in 2010.

Howard was an enthusiastic supporter of the Louisa County 4H club, FFA and numerous youth sports groups. He was a member of the Louisa Chamber of Commerce and received the businessman of the year award. In his free time, he enjoyed captaining one of his many boats on the Rappahannock River and Chesapeake Bay and relaxing at his house on Dividing Creek near Kilmarnock.

Howard is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Kay Brindle; his son, Greg (Lisa); daughter, Margaret (Phil); grandchildren, Amber (Jesse), Christian (Stephanie), Alan (Summer); sisters, Daryle (Glenn) and Patsy (Charlie); great-grandchildren, Rylee and Dakota; and his faithful silver lab, Gracie.

Per Howard’s wishes, there will be no memorial service. A celebration of life to be announced later.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of University of Virginia and Sentara hospitals and Hospice of Piedmont for their support and care during this time.
