This year’s house and garden tour on Friday, May 2, hosted by the Garden Club of the Middle Peninsula, will return to Middlesex County after twice being cancelled during the COVID-19 pandemic. The tour promises to be of interest to avid gardeners and history buffs alike, while providing a glimpse of the waterfront living experience.

Visitors will enjoy visiting six properties representing the rich history and beautiful gardens of Middlesex, located along the Rappahannock and Piankatank rivers. The properties collectively span four centuries that offer formal and informal gardens, antiques, fine art, and magnificent river views.

Houses include properties in Deltaville, Wake and Topping.

  • Cupalow is an 1867 farmhouse surrounded by well-loved gardens on four acres.
  • San Souci is an 1840 home filled with antiques while retaining its original pine flooring.
  • Providence was completed in 1760 and includes extensive gardens as well as a replica of an 18th century trading sloop that is docked there.
  • Also included are three other properties that architecturally blend land and sea.
