The Bay Bash Foundation presents the 4th Annual Bay Bash Family Fishing Tournament and Benefit Concert this Saturday, August 10, at Ingram Bay Marina in Wicomico Church.
The tournament attracts local and regional anglers all vying for the top Mid-Atlantic angler honors. The family-friendly rules not only provide novel scoring for Lady, Youth, and Special Angler divisions, but also offer cash prizes for 10 different species of fish as well as a grand prize, sponsored by Seigler reels, for the angler with the longest total combined length (inches) of all their species. Overall, there are 34 different ways to win.
A benefit concert featuring the award-winning “Bobby Black Hat Band” will follow from 7-10 p.m. Other attractions include food, beverages, a raffle and a moon bounce for the kids.
This event, sponsored by the Bay Bash Foundation, provides a means to help children with special needs of the Northern Neck—within the tournament and through the benefit concert by raising money to help meet financial needs of local families.
Pete Conroy, representing Team Chesapeake Bank, will attempt to defend his title on Saturday. The team’s 79.8-inch aggregate score from six different species took the top prize in 2018.
Top contenders last year included Team Finsanity, and “Top Sea-cret.” Eyes will also be on the Goldvein Gunslingers out of Alexandria and captained by Colin Saunders, which had quite a breakout in their first attempt last year.
Entry fees are affordable so that everyone can participate: power boats are $75, canoe/kayak $30, and pier or shore anglers $15. Last year, anglers in all three types of entries won prizes.
In terms of diversity of species, this tournament is the largest in the Mid-Atlantic region.
