Alta May Woodworth Miller, 93, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, registered nurse, friend, and mentor to many, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2025. Family and dear friends were with her in the days leading to her passing.
Born in 1931, Alta was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Dabney Nevelle Miller of Topping; her parents, Hannah and Milton Woodworth; and her brother, William Woodworth of Cornwallville, N.Y.
She is survived by her children, Warren (Jackie) of Winchester, Ruth Lynn (Alex Serrano) of Springfield, and George (Jennifer) of Charles Town, W.Va.; and grandchildren, Stephen, Jeffrey, Jared, Marta, and Dylan.
A native of Cornwallville, N.Y., she attended Cazenovia Junior College before attending and graduating from the Columbia University School of Nursing in New York City. Her career as a nurse extended more than 40 years, after which she returned with her husband to his homeplace in Topping.
A service is planned for 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, at Harmony Grove Baptist Church, preceded by visitation with the family beginning at 10 a.m. and followed by the interment of ashes and a reception.
