Low Country Boil Festival for the Animals is April 20

The Flat Tones band, which includes members from Middlesex, Gloucester and Mathews counties, performs at a St. Patrick’s Day-themed first responders benefit on March 16 at Good Luck Cellars in Kilmarnock. The group is set to perform at the Middlesex Pet Friends for Life benefit Low Country Boil set for 4-7 p.m. April 20 at the Deltaville Maritime Museum. The band includes, Gloria Matthews, vocals; Michele Meanley, vocals, bongos; Donna Lange, vocals, flute; Clayton Neal, vocals, lead guitar; Jim Padgett, rhythm guitar; Cabell Mercer, keyboard; Courtney Mercer, bass; and Branch Meanley, drums.

Well, it’s April and besides “April showers bringing May flowers,” it is also bringing us one of the very best fun, epicurean events of the year. The one and only spectacular, delightful, delectable, one of a kind, not to be missed “Low Country Boil Festival for the Animals” to benefit the homeless pups and kitties under the care of our Middlesex County Animal Shelter.

On April 20, from 4-7 p.m., the original Low Country Boil with chefs Rikki and Megan will return to the Deltaville Maritime Museum with an all-you-can-eat shrimp seafood boil accompanied by all the traditional Louisiana accoutrements.

Included in the ticket price will be one adult beverage or soft drink. There will be a cash bar with wine and beer.

There will also be a silent auction with treasures galore on which to bid and even a 50/50 raffle.

Of course, the venue would not be complete without the chance to put your dancing shoes on and boogie to the great sounds of the Flat Tones. Tickets are on sale at Hurd’s True Value Hardware, Urbanna Trading Company, Salon by the Bay in Hartfield Village, the Middlesex Animal Shelter in Cooks Corner and the Deltaville Maritime Museum.

Tickets can also be purchased by check or online by credit card or PayPal at middlesexpetfriends.wordpress.com. Pet Friends volunteers may also be selling outside M&M Building Supply and the IGA Deltaville Market. Tickets are $75 per person. This is our one major fundraiser, and all profits go to provide medical care for the shelter animals. We hope to see you there!
