Bettie Johnson Hodge

Bettie Johnson Hodge, 90, of Deltaville, went home peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, with her children at her side.

She was born on July 20, 1933 in Richmond, to Edith Johnson and Clifford Blankenship.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Thomas Johnson; grandson, Christopher Drinkwater; former husband, Grover Hodge; one great-grandchild; and one nephew.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Deborah Walton (Ernie), Cynthia Drinkwater, Christopher Hodge and Neil Hodge; sister, Faye Satterwhite; five grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and cousins.

Bettie cherished her family, cared for foster children and loved her cats, Smokey and Pumpkin, dearly. She loved birds and enjoyed bird watching, crocheting and quilting the most beautiful quilts for her family and friends.

Bettie grew up in Richmond, where she graduated from St. Patrick’s School. She raised her family in Sandston, drove a school bus for Henrico County and retired from the Federal Reserve Bank in Richmond.

Bettie enjoyed her later years in the quiet solitude of Deltaville, where she was a devoted member of the Catholic Church of the Visitation.

A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9 at Catholic Church of the Visitation, 8462 General Puller Highway, Topping.
