Leonard Powell dives into MC history at Turner Lecture

On Sunday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m., the Deltaville Maritime Museum and Holly Point Nature Park continues the 2023 Turner Lecture Series with a presentation of reminisces and stories of Deltaville, Middlesex and her people. Light refreshments will be available. We had a wonderful audience at the John England Jan. 8 lecture.

Leonard Powell is a true son of the Deltaville community, dating back to his great-great-grandfather who was born in 1821. As a youth, Leonard spent his summers on the Chesapeake Bay working with his father aboard his dad’s 42-foot, Deltaville-built deadrise and on the decks of the Nellie R., a 65-foot Chesapeake Bay buyboat.

There is no admission fee, but donations to the Turner Education Fund are both needed and encouraged to ensure the continuity of the series. Suggested donation: $10…
