MHS v’ball squad surpasses Northumberland, King William

The Middlesex High School Lady Charger varsity volleyball team is 9-2  after posting two wins last week defeating Northumberland on Sept. 26 and King William on Sept 29.

It took five sets, but Middlesex prevailed against visiting Northumberland 25-19, 24-26, 22-25, 25-12 and 15-9. The teams battled to a 2-2 tie, with Lady Chargers winning the first and fourth sets, setting up a fifth game for the match.

On Sept. 29 at King William, the Lady Chargers lost the second set 22-25, but won the rest 25-21, 25-22 and 25-17.

The Lady Chargers play four matches in the coming week. They host King and Queen Central tonight, Thursday, Oct. 6, play at Mathews on Tuesday, Oct. 11, play at Northampton on Wednesday, Oct. 12, and host Charles City on Thursday, Oct. 13. The junior varsity plays at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity follows at 7 p.m.
