The “Luna,” a working replica of an early 18th century coastal trading sloop built in Deltaville by the Colonial Seaport Foundation (CSF), has been established to provide pierside education, classroom lectures and possibly under way field trips. Her appearance at the Saturday, Oct. 15, Taste of Middlesex festival at the Deltaville Maritime Museum (DMM) and Holly Point Nature Park will be her first official showing since her christening at DMM.

The festival, which will also feature vendors, live bands, craft beer, model trains, local foods and a full range of children’s activities, will open at 10 a.m. and run until 4 p.m. Admission to the festival is free, but there will be a $5 per car parking donation.

“We have been working on the Luna for several years and are so excited about finally having her ready to show off!”, said CSF President Jock Collamore.

CSF was founded to provide a focus for the Hampton Roads area on 17th-18th century maritime history. The foundation is an educational and charitable organization (501c3) focused on preserving facets of colonial maritime history by providing historically accurate living history presentations and education to the public.

We encourage the owners of antique, classic and exotic motor vehicles to get together, enjoy operating, talking about, exhibiting, and showing off their rolling stock.
