Grayson Shelton Memorial Night is Friday at Deltaville Ballpark

The second annual “Grayson Shelton Memorial Night” is set for 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12, at Deltaville Ball Park. It will feature a pre-game ceremony before Middlesex takes on Middlesex Team Two in the final Alex C. Fitchett Memorial 241 League game of the regular season. The playoffs begin next week.

Grayson Shelton passed away suddenly, while a senior at Middlesex High School, on Jan. 18, 2021, at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond. His parents, Mark and Susan Shelton, continue to honor his legacy.

Grayson is remembered for his passion of being outdoors, helping others and always having the biggest smile on his face. He loved hunting, fishing, helping at Virginia Motor Speedway on the weekends and most of all, cutting grass. Grayson started cutting grass in the community at the age of 9 and his business continued to grow and grow over the years. He enjoyed talking to his customers, young or old, and taking care of their needs. Grayson never skipped a beat, in the evening he enjoyed watching his friends play in the 241 League at the Deltaville Ball Park.

Middlesex and Williamsburg are tied for first place in the Alex C. Fitchett Memorial 241 Baseball League as the regular season comes to a close on Friday.

Tonight, Thursday, Aug. 11, at 7 p.m., Gloucester meets Williamsburg at the Deltaville Ballpark, while Lancaster meets Northumberland at Dream Fields in Lancaster.

On Friday, Aug. 12, at 7 p.m. Middlesex takes on Middlesex Team Two. Friday will also be All-Star selection night for the 13-14 year old players and 15-16 year old players, as well as the second annual Grayson Shelton Memorial night.
