There will be an NAACP Community Health Fair 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church at 6470 Main St. in Gloucester. It is organized by the NAACP Health Committee in response to the NAACP’s goal of reducing health disparities for minority communities that have been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The health fair seeks to connect all citizens, of all ages and backgrounds, to health, mental health and health-related services.

Door prizes and many giveaways will be given throughout the day.

The Sentara Mammogram Van will be at the church for the event. To schedule a mammogram, call 757-388-2030, select option 1, then press 602262 to let them know which event you are attending. Riverside Health System will have a recruiter for both employment and volunteer opportunities as well as a wide variety of educational information and programs by medical providers throughout the day.

A number of organizations will be providing screenings, including for diabetes measuring the hemoglobin A1C, which estimates sugar levels over the past three months and can establish a diagnosis of diabetes on the spot.

COVID-19 vaccines and boosters will be available, sponsored by the Three Rivers Health District.

For information, call the event chairman, Natalie Johnson, at 804-413-9290.
