SNOW TIME IN MIDDLESEX

A winter blizzard dropped five inches of snow on Urbanna Friday night and Saturday morning, giving these sleigh adventurers a wild snow ride Saturday down an Old Virginia Street hill. The site, just northwest of town, is known locally as a premier sledding hill. More snow is forecast for Sunday morning. (Photo by Larry Chowning)

In a creek-front view Saturday of snow near Oyster Harbor Condominiums in Urbanna, sheets of snow from snow on trees further up Virginia Street cover the scene. The steady snowfall overnight Friday transformed much of Middlesex County into a winter wonderland. With today’s temperatures in the 60s, almost all the snowy blanket is now a mere memory. A Christchurch School (CCS) group gathers for a photo during a break in snow sledding Saturday on the CCS campus. They include, from left, Lucas Shelton, a sophomore from Atlanta; Head of School John “JEB” Byers; Ampomah Kufuor, a freshman from Accra, Ghana; Spencer Lawter, a junior from Spartanburg, S.C.; Jax Parker Searcy, a senior from Nassau, Bahamas; and Maison Koepke, a junior from Hope Town, Bahamas.
