Queen-Little Miss Spat contestant duo appreciate support from community

Emalynn Norwood and Madysen Davis

As Emalynn Norwood and Madysen Davis’ Mission Mdx project comes to an end, they couldn’t be more grateful for the amount of support they have received throughout their journey. The two have made boxes for Middlesex Elementary School, St. Clare Walker Middle School, Middlesex High School, and for the Northern Neck-Middlesex Free Health Clinic. They have purchased bulks of lancets, lancing devices, glucometer kits, test strips, alcohol pads, band-aids, cotton balls, and the other items the schools have requested to have when a students’ blood sugar is low or high.

Throughout the competition they have hosted Strike Down Diabetes, a benefit night at Deltaville Tap and Raw Bar, and diabetic, gluten-free, and regular bake sale at the Deltaville Ballpark. Their final event was Walking for Diabetes in Piankatank Shores while picking up roadside trash to encourage getting active and getting outside. They also created a logo and made T-shirts that they began selling.

The two thank their biggest supporters, Madysen’s mother, family, friends, the Norwoods, Rivah Care customers, the Pullmans, and River Woodworks. They are so appreciative for all you have done for them and for pushing the duo to do their best! To Village Lanes Bowling Alley who allowed them to host their first event while also donating to the silent auction. The following businesses donated to the silent auction: NN Burger, Northern Neck Popcorn, Whispering Springs Farms, Hurd’s, M&M, The Crabby Couple, Nauti Nell’s, Rivah Day Spa, Zoll Vineyards, River Birch, and Cafe by the Bay. All of the donations sold for more than their value! They thank Deltaville Tap and Raw Bar for allowing them to host the benefit night and to Deltaville Ballpark for having their stand at their Deltas game! Madysen and Emmy could not say thank you enough to each and every person who has supported them throughout their entire project!

With the money they have raised, they were able to supply each school, the Northern Neck-Middlesex Free Health Clinic, along with donating money to Marshall’s Drug Store for the diabetic patients who come in to cover their copays. With the remaining funds, Emmy and Madysen decided to place the money in a fund for diabetics in the Social Services system to be able to reach even more people in the county.
