It’s impossible to make concept of neighbor too big

The parable of the good Samaritan is a famous story, even to people who do not regularly expose themselves to church attendance or Bible study.

The parable originated out of a conversation that Jesus had one day with a lawyer, who asked Him two questions:

  1. What do I have to do to inherit eternal life?
  2. Who is my neighbor?

To the first question, Jesus asked the man, “What does the law say? How do you read it?”

The lawyer replied, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength and love your neighbor as yourself.”

Jesus responded, “That’s correct. Do this and you will live.” “Doing” in this case means keeping God’s law.

Regarding the second question, Jesus told the parable of the good Samaritan, and the point that Jesus was making was that we must not exclude anyone who truly is our literal neighbor, that is, those who live near us, or those with whom we share a friendly relationship.
