Christchurch School swimmers capture division championship

Christchurch School swimmers have won the 2021 Virginia Independent School Athletic Association (VISAA) Division 2 State Championship. The team placed fourth in the commonwealth overall.

The VISAA State Swimming and Diving Championship looked a little different this year — it was done virtually, with swimmers competing in their home pools with “Proof of Time” verified submissions. The home pool for the Seahorses is the Kilmarnock YMCA.

The team is coached by Dave Cola, who also serves as the school’s director of Place-Based Education.

“I am so proud of our swimmers,” said Cola. “For them to swim nearly all personal best times without a live opponent says a lot about the camaraderie and heart found on this small team…
