Middlesex Mardi Gras fundraiser deferred; need for funds remains

Mardi Gras is the feasting period before the start of Lent. Middlesex County’s version of Mardi Gras has been celebrated for the past few years with a gala sponsored by the Middlesex Family YMCA and the Middlesex Kiwanis Club. It takes place at Bethpage Camp Resort.

At the Middlesex Mardi Gras, members of the Middlesex community gather wearing traditional purple, green, and gold beads to party, dance to live music, to spend their money at an auction, and to eat and drink a lavish, traditional Mardi Gras meal. Last year Mardi Gras raised more than $70,000 to support community programs.

Unfortunately, because of COVID-19 restrictions, organizers will not be able to celebrate Middlesex Mardi Gras as was done in the past. While organizers look forward to the return of a traditional celebration next year, the Y and Kiwanis programs that support children and others in the community are still in need of your support. Consider a donation to both the Middlesex Kiwanis Club and the Middlesex Family YMCA…
