On March 3 the Middlesex County Board of Supervisors approved an amendment to the Middlesex Comprehensive Plan and also rezoned Bethpage Camp-Resort near Urbanna to allow for expansion.
The parcel of about 180 acres was rezoned to Waterfront Commercial from Low Density Rural so Bethpage Camp-Resort can add 534 campsites and 61 cottages to its existing 970 sites.
The primary purpose of the rezoning is to allow for campsite development closer to Old Virginia Street. When fully built, the campground would have 1,471 campsites and 94 cottages.
