Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society opens ticket sales for gala

Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society (GMHS) will host The Golden Paws Gala and Auction on Saturday, January 25, from 5:30-11 p.m. at the Abingdon Ruritan Club near Gloucester Point. Presented by Guardian Sponsor Chesapeake Bank and Chesapeake Wealth Management, the annual gala and auction is the shelter’s premier fundraiser.

Inspired by the glamour of Hollywood, the event will include an unforgettable evening of cocktails and cuisine, live and silent auction offerings and music from “Good Shot Judy.”

Auction items will offer something for every taste and include a stunning array of high-quality experiences, fine art, furnishings and more. Live auction offerings range from four tickets and a coveted parking pass to the February 29 Duke versus University of Virginia basketball game; a North Carolina mountain escape for two, including stays at the Omni Grove Park Inn, Greystone Inn and The Park on Main Hotel, and a private tour of Southern Highlands Reserve; and a stay for 10 at The Inn at Warner Hall with a bonfire, beverages and Scott’s BBQ followed by a sumptuous breakfast the next day.

GMHS Executive Director April Martinez said, “Each year, the bar is set ever higher for the quality of auction items and event experience offered to our guests. Our ability to remain a beacon of hope and safe harbor for homeless pets is directly linked with the event’s success, and the sense of gratitude we have for auction guests, sponsors, donors and volunteers is profound indeed.”

Tickets are available for purchase by calling 804-693-5520, ext. 321, and via email at development@gmhumanesociety.org. Individual tickets are $125 and must be purchased by January 15 for guaranteed seating. Reserved tables for eight are also available for $750, and event sponsorships begin at $1,000.

Visit gmhumanesociety.org/2020-gala-and-auction.html for a complete list of sponsors and live and silent auction donors. All proceeds from the event and associated raffle will benefit GMHS and be used to save and transform the lives of homeless pets.
