The no-fee Spring Fling Concert is is set for 7-9 p.m. Friday, May 2, at Christ Church Parish Hall, 56 Christ Church Lane, Christchurch.
The evening will begin with a stellar performance by tenor saxophonist, Peyton Brabrand. His music is rooted in the sounds of legendary saxophonists Stan Getz, Root Sims and Ike Quebec, all performed in Brabrand’s unique style that transports listeners to the smoky jazz clubs of yesteryear.
A special solo performance will also be provided by young, local, rising star, Roxy Coke. Roxy is a singer-songwriter who delights audiences with her vocal talent and soulful delivery of tunes from various genres including classic rock, pop, country and Americana.
The newly revised Jumbo Lump Daddy and the Backfin Boys, an eight-time award winner of the Best of the Rivah Country, will conclude the concert with their unique brand of sonically wooden “Rivahdacious” music. The band consists of its original members, Clayton Neal and Gary Archer, plus the addition of Clark Robins on djembe and Billy Budd on upright bass. Their music is guaranteed to put a smile on your face and get your feet tapping!
While there is no fee to attend the concert, donations will be graciously accepted. Food and beverages will be available for purchase and there will also be a silent auction.
