The loss is immeasurable, but so is the love left behind.
It is with profound grief and sadness that the family of Nancy Jane Scruggs Harrison announces her unexpected passing on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022, at the age of 73 years.
Nancy was born in Shelby, N.C. on June 1, 1948 to Benjamin and Johnnie (Mintz) Scruggs.
She was married on Aug. 27, 1965 to William A. Harrison Jr., and during their 56 years of marriage they had two daughters, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Nancy loved working with her residents during her tenure at Rappahannock-Westminster Canterbury in Irvington until her retirement, but her favorite pasttime was spending her time spoiling her family, ensuring that each one felt special and loved.
Known to those she loved by many names, Nancy was a selflessly devoted wife, a lovingly nurturing mother to her children, and an unabashedly doting mamaw to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Miles Scruggs.
Nancy is survived by her husband, whom she lovingly referred to as Billy; her daughters, Christina Jessie (Lenny) and Terri White (Randy); grandchildren, Lenny Jessie Jr. (Angel), Greg Jessie, Jenni Jones (David), Sarah Chiappisi (Ethan), Tim White (Susie); great-grandchildren, Sophia and Lanny Jessie, Alice Jane Chiappisi and Piper Jones; three sisters, Jeanie Anderson, Sherry Rudy and Ruby Gay Schlemmer; nieces and nephews, RJ, Pam, Matt, Kate, Heather, John, Renae, Laura, Daniel, Jeanie Marie; and several great-nieces and nephews.
A private celebration of life will be conducted at a future date.
